Ingredients
Each capsule contains 250 mg of Coleus forkohlii root extract. At 20% extract, this has approximately 50 mg of the active ingredient, forskolin. The active ingredient, according to the manufacturer, acts on cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels within the body to produce its purported effects.
The capsule is made of vegetable cellulose while rice flour is also present in the ingredients list. The latter is commonly used as capsule filler.
Dosage
The manufacturer recommends that one capsule of Forskolin 50 be taken once or twice a day on an empty stomach. Or take it as recommended by a health professional.
Possible Side Effects
The product label contains warnings against the use of this product if the user has a family history of liver, kidney or prostate disease, or endocrine conditions. However, clinical trial data on the active ingredient is lacking. There are reports on the use of a forskolin derivative which had adverse side effects such as rapid or irregular heart rate. One resource reported that forskolin should be avoided in cases of polycystic kidney disease.

As to the quality and safety of the product, it was noted that manufacturing of this product adheres to the standards set by Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines. Genetic Solutions Forskolin 50 has little to cause it to stand out among the many forskolin supplement products available, except that it is manufactured in a GMP certified facility. It hints (but doesn’t actually say outright) that it can help with “stubborn fat loss” and that forskolin has a “significant effect” (without saying what kind of effect) on lean body mass. Well, perhaps the one thing that differentiates it is the fact that it is notably expensive compared to much of the competition. The lack of any return or refund policy on the product website is yet more cause for concern. We are unable to recommend this product and suggest you keep looking for a more robust forskolin supplement, in terms of claims, price and returns.
